Material and labor of the unit-priced lines: Material $1,421 · Labor $609
Default scenario: One entry door. Not a contract price. The band is the point total plus or minus 15%, a planning allowance we set for early estimates, not a measured accuracy. Prices include materials, labor, JKM overhead and fee, and 9.3% Washington sales tax. Working days on site are crew days. Design, permits and material lead times add calendar time before and between them.

Notes
- Entry price is a solid fiberglass or similar prehung unit, not a custom fir door. Sidelights are extra.
Not in this band
- Hazardous-material abatement. Asbestos and lead are common on pre-1978 houses and are separately licensed work.
- Structural repair discovered after demolition.
- A new electrical panel, water service, or septic, unless that line is on this estimate.
- Design fees, except where a drawing line is shown.
- Financing and temporary housing. (Washington sales tax, 9.3%, is included in these prices.)

What the door estimate covers
The door estimate counts three kinds of door: interior, entry and patio. You enter how many of each, and the desk prices each kind on its own line. Interior doors are prehung units, hung and cased. The entry door is a prehung unit. A patio opening is a slider or a French pair. Nothing else is added to the list.
The default is one entry door, and the interior and patio counts start at zero.
What the prices assume
The entry door line is for a solid fiberglass or similar prehung unit, which the notes distinguish from a custom fir door. Sidelights are extra. If you are planning a door that is wider, glazed or custom, treat the desk number as a starting point and expect the real estimate to move.
Interior doors are the simplest line because they scale with the count. Twenty is the most the desk accepts, and the days on site grow with the count at a fraction of a day each, since a prehung interior door goes in faster than an entry or a patio door.
What moves the number
The mix of doors matters more than the count. A single patio opening costs more than several interior doors, because the unit is larger. The entry door sits in between.
Days on site follow the mix. An entry door is about a day each, a patio opening a little more, and an interior door a fraction of one. Small jobs are lifted to a minimum, and the desk shows that as its own line when it applies.
What is not in the band
Sidelights, custom doors and changes to the size of an opening are not in the band. The usual exclusions apply as well: hazardous-material abatement, structural repair found once the old door is out, a new electrical panel, design fees and financing. Washington sales tax is already included in the prices. If you are widening an opening, the framing and header are structural work that the desk does not price.
Whether replacing a door needs a permit depends on the work, especially if an opening changes size, and on where the house sits. Our permit guides explain which Kitsap office covers your address. Use the band to plan how many doors to do now, then ask for a site visit so we can measure the openings before we write the real estimate.

Questions
Doors estimates: common questions
What does the door estimate assume before I change anything?
The starting band, $1,700 – $2,300, is the default scenario (One entry door). It prices a solid prehung entry door and nothing else, with no interior doors and no patio door.
What kind of entry door does the door estimate price?
A solid fiberglass or similar prehung unit, not a custom fir door. Sidelights are extra. If you want a specialty door, the estimate is a starting point and a site visit is where it gets priced.
How are interior doors priced in the door estimate?
Per door, as a prehung unit hung and cased. You enter how many, from none to twenty, and the line scales with the count.
Does the door estimate cover patio doors?
Yes. A patio slider or a French pair is its own line, priced per opening, and each one adds more days on site than an interior door.
