Our story
JKM Construction LLC was formed in 2020 so that father and son could pool their knowledge and resources and make their own mark in the area.
Ian Laughlin, the principal, started his career in 2007 with a local commercial contractor, where he was a superintendent on dialysis and medical centers, banks and other commercial construction. In 2013 he became part owner of another contractor, worked on custom homes and apartments, and helped that company grow from 5 employees to more than 70. He is a LEED AP and a Sustainable Building Advisor.
Jim Laughlin, the vice president, has fifty years in construction and development. He began by design-building custom homes in Port Townsend, built custom homes and did concrete work in Juneau, Alaska, and then moved to Bainbridge Island, where he went into land development. In the last decade he has worked with other developers to plan and permit more than 500 units in and around Kitsap County. That record is Jim's own.
Together they build custom homes, remodels, additions and ADUs, and commercial work from tenant improvements to medical and dental build-outs. See the full list of servicesor the commercial page.
