A website everyone can use

Accessibility

We want every visitor to be able to read this site, find what they need and reach us.

Our goal

We build this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not had an independent audit, so we describe what we do rather than claim full conformance.

What we have done

  • Pages work with the keyboard alone, with a skip link and a visible focus outline on every control.
  • Text and controls meet AA contrast ratios on both navy and ivory backgrounds.
  • Page content is real HTML, so it reads without JavaScript. Menus and FAQ answers use native controls.
  • Headings follow a logical order and every image has a text description or is marked decorative.
  • Buttons and main navigation items are at least 48 pixels tall for easier tapping.
  • Text resizes and reflows down to a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are switched off.

How we test

Every change is checked with automated accessibility tests (axe) and layout tests at phone, tablet and desktop widths, with JavaScript on and off. We also tab through new pages by hand. Automated tests catch only part of the problems, which is why we want to hear from you.

Known limits

  • The Estimate Desk and the quote form are interactive tools. If one does not work for you, call or email and we will take your project details directly.
  • PDFs and documents we share during a project may not be fully accessible. Ask and we will provide another format.
  • The map of our service area is a simplified drawing. Every community on it is also listed as a link in the footer of each page.

Tell us about a problem

If something on this site is hard to use, tell us what page you were on and what happened. Call (206) 226-1988 or email Ian@JKMBuild.com. We will work out a fix and, in the meantime, help you with whatever you came to do.
