Vice President

Jim Laughlin

Jim Laughlin is vice president of JKM Construction: 50 years in construction and development, with land developments on Bainbridge Island and more in Kitsap.

Background

Jim Laughlin has fifty years in construction and development. He started his career design-building custom homes in Port Townsend, Washington. In the 1980s he moved to Juneau, Alaska, where he built custom homes and did concrete work.

When the market crashed, Jim moved to Bainbridge Island, where he started selling real estate and venturing into land development.

Land development on Bainbridge Island

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Jim had developments on Bainbridge Island, including Madison Cottages, a 21-unit infill; Midden Point, a 20-lot development; and North Town Woods, a 60-lot subdivision. He had many more on Bainbridge Island and elsewhere in Kitsap County.

Planning and permitting in Kitsap County

In the last decade Jim has worked with other developers to plan and permit more than 500 units in and around Kitsap County. That record is Jim's own.

JKM Construction

Jim is vice president of JKM Construction LLC, which he and his son Ian formed in 2020. Jim's background is in land, entitlements and permit offices, which is why he is part of conversations about feasibility and larger parcels.
