How to file
- "We accept applications for all permit types electronically." Source [2]
- "The Permit Center is all electronic. Permitting software programs are used to review applications, track timelines, and issue permits. We accept applications and schedule inspections online." Source [3]
- The Camino Permit Guide "provides guidance based on information you provide in the Guide, and through GIS mapping", and you can use it as a guest. The City also says "We currently have very limited options available in the Guide." Source [2]
- The City's Residential Building Permit Application "can be used for residential projects such as remodels, additions, decks, porches, garages, sheds, other accessory buildings, fences, and retaining walls. It is not for use when building a new Single Family Residence." That describes which form to use, not whether a project needs a permit. Source [4]
- Inspections: "Beginning Friday, August 1, 2025, all inspections must be requested using the SmartGov Online Public Portal." Source [1]
Review times
- A notice on the Permit Center page, when we read it on October 13, 2026, said: "As of June 9, 2026 due to recent building department staff departures, our current average for turnaround on a first-round single-family building permit plan review is 4-8 weeks." Source [1]
- The City adds: "Plans are reviewed in the order they are received, and the plans examiners are reviewing as quickly as they can." Source [1]
Worth knowing
- The City's ADU fee estimate says "Port Orchard does not issue electrical permits. Contact State L&I for information." Source [5]
- Fee schedules are on the Permit Center page, which lists "Fees" among its permit applications and forms. Source [1]
- The Permit Center page also says it is "currently in the process of transitioning to a new submission portal". If you cannot find an online application link for a permit type, it asks you to contact the Permit Center at 360-874-5533. Source [1]
