Same project, different office. Each row is what that office's own page says, with the rule quoted on its guide.

Side by side

What each office says

Fence permits by authority. Each rule is quoted on that authority's guide, with the date we read its page.
AuthorityWhat its page says
City of PoulsboDepends on the project

The City of Poulsbo does not require a building permit for a fence 7 feet and under, and does require one for a fence over 7 feet high.

City of Bainbridge IslandDepends on the project

The City of Bainbridge Island lists "Fences not over 7 feet high" as work that does not need a building permit.

City of Bremerton

See City of Bremerton: its permit page publishes this.

City of Port Orchard

See City of Port Orchard: its permit page publishes this.

Kitsap County Department of Community DevelopmentDepends on the project

On Kitsap County DCD's "Do I Need a Building Permit?" tool, a fence over 7 feet needs a permit, and over 6 feet near a critical area or buffer.

The offices publish their own lists, and the wording and thresholds are not the same. Read the quoted rule on the guide for your office, and do not carry a number from one office to another.
