Who issues permits
The City of Bremerton's Department of Community Development (DCD) takes questions on permitting and zoning verifications at 360-473-5275 or DCDPermits@ci.bremerton.wa.us. Source [3]
How to file
- "The DCD Online Center provides public access to apply for a permit, check the current status of applications, and request inspections." Source [1]
- The City's Permit Guide page says "When ready to apply, please visit the DCD Online Center." Source [2]
- The Camino Permit Guide "provides guidance based on project type and GIS mapping." The City adds that "the Camino Permit Guide is not an online application - do not fill out any fields or upload items to the page." Source [2]
- On intake: "Our Permit Technicians conduct a thorough examination of each application for completeness. They verify the legibility of drawings, ensure all forms are correctly filled out, and confirm that plan review fees are paid. Once an application is deemed complete, it is routed to the relevant departments for their review." Source [1]
Review times
- The City says "While timelines can vary, a well-prepared application can significantly expedite the review process." Source [1]
- "Should revisions be submitted, the application will undergo a full review again, requiring all departments to evaluate the newly provided information." Source [1]
- The City pages listed here do not give a review time in days or weeks, so we print none. DCD can tell you where a permit stands at 360-473-5275. Source [3]
Worth knowing
- For questions on Building and Land Use permits, the Permit Guide page gives the email dcdpermits@ci.bremerton.wa.us. For Utility and Right-of-Way permits it gives a separate email, cityofbremerton.permits@ci.bremerton.wa.us. Source [2]
- The City's handout "When Is a Building Permit Required?" lists work that does not need a permit. It is marked "Rev. 4/2014" and refers to the 2015 International Building Code, so ask DCD whether it is current before you rely on it. Source [5]
- The City's Accessory Dwelling Units page sets out its ADU rules, which our Bremerton ADU guide quotes. Source [4]
